Fortnite Battle Royale is based on the survival mode Save the World. As the battle royale genre was gaining popularity, Epic Games saw this as an opportunity to develop a battle royale game using the survival mode as its core. It’s a third person shooter game where the last one standing gets to win the match. Just like most other battle royale games, 100 players air-drop out of a moving vehicle with no equipment. As they look for more equipment to get stronger while the shrinking map gets them closer and forcing them to combat. The rules of the game are very simple. After the first few matches, anybody would understand how the game would function but might not like it at first. Often, the first matches end up real fast, resulting in the inexperienced player’s death But once you get the feel and learn more about the map, things can get exciting and fun.
So far Epic Games released Fortnite on all platforms that could run the game. It’s available to play on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. This move taken by Epic Games made Fortnite one of the most played games in 2018.
The best part about Fortnite is it’s completely free to play on all platforms. Even Epic Games made an announcement on that saying Fortnite Battle Royale will always be free. There are microtransactions that keep the game running. Microtransactions only include cosmetic items as they don’t give any boost of performance, we can safely say there is no pay to win scheme.
Currently, Fortnite has been played by over 250 million players and reached a record-breaking 3.4 million concurrent players. It’s the most played videogame of 2018 and player count never seems to go down with this battle royale. Fortnite can be downloaded via Epic Games own launcher.
